Article at-a-glance:
– Vidalytics is a video creation, editing, and hosting platform designed specifically for conversions. It was developed in the US by Patrick Stiles and is aimed primarily at marketers and business owners.
– Features and Benefits: It offers a range of features built around increasing the conversion rates of videos used in marketing funnels, such as auto-start, countdown timers, and analytics.
– Pricing: Vidalytics’ basic Pro plan starts at $79 per month. A “free forever” plan is also available, giving users 50 GB of storage and access to autoplay.
– Alternatives: Vidalytics is a fairly new player in a segment dominated by Wistia, Vimeo, and Vidyard.
– Pros and Cons: Vidalytics comes with a gamut of customization options that allow users to optimize videos for conversion down to the last second. The sheer number of customization options makes it less appealing to those looking for a more straightforward tool, and the subscription cost could turn some off as well.
Based on recent stats, it’s safe to say that video is the preferred content format globally in 2024, and would probably stay that way for many years afterward as new and better video creation tools get introduced.
Marketers have known this for years and have upped their output to keep up with demand and with their competitors. In fact, nearly 90% of marketers see video as part and parcel of their overall strategies.
But even with perfect execution, your video content could only achieve so much without the right delivery platform. If you are a marketer or a small business owner creating video to convert, then you need a tool that will allow you to not just play videos – but use all the marketing tricks you have up your sleeve.
And this is what Vidalytics promises and more.
But is it worth switching over to, or are you better off with the software you’re using?
What is Vidalytics?
Vidalytics is a video marketing platform just like Wistia, Vimeo, or YouTube, but it differs in purpose. Vidalytics is for marketers, and its goal is to help these professionals convert.
This is why it offers a range of features that allow users to control the copy, colors, and granular aspects of their videos, with the aim of converting site traffic into paying customers.
The key term there is “granular controls,” because Vidalytics is all about customization through its Smart Vids feature.
Smart Vids: Customizing the Viewing Experience
Smart Vids is at the heart of Vidalytics. This powerful video creation tool allows users to “dynamically tailor” videos to suit the specific interests, knowledge level, and buying readiness of the viewer.
Okay, sounds fancy, but what does it all mean?
Think about your diverse audience and their varying levels of awareness about your product or service. Some may be completely new to your brand, while others might be very close to making a purchase decision. Smart Vids allow you to address these differences by dynamically tailoring the content of your video to match each viewer’s needs.
For example, Smart Vids offers your viewers the ability to “resume play,” allowing them to continue watching from where they stopped, when they return to the video. This is particularly useful for long-form content running for an hour or two.
And speaking of long-form content, Smart Vids also lets viewers “jump paths,” meaning you can add CTAs at any part of the video—not just at the end—which is perfect for those not too keen on finishing your entire presentation and wanting to make a purchase already or request a consult.
Smart Vids’ Features
In addition to the above, Smart Vids can also do the following:
- Autoplay on all devices – Additionally, it can detect if the video is muted and informs the viewer if it is.
- Custom CTAs – Smart Vids lets you place calls to action at any point in the video; not just at the end. Want a CTA to pop up whenever a video is paused? You can do that.
- Exit thumbnail – Speaking of pausing – that could signal that the viewer is about to exit. Smart Vids lets you add engaging “exit” thumbnails that could make them think twice.
- Resume play – As mentioned earlier, this lets viewers seamlessly continue the video they were watching. Users who are into long-form sales presentations may find this useful.
- Play gates – Is it possible to get leads while playing a video? Smart Vids lets you create “play gates” that lock videos with an opt-in form at certain times or while the video is paused.
- Countdown timers – Smart Vids lets you add countdown timers that create a sense of anticipation and urgency, keeping viewers engaged throughout your video.
Pros/Advantages of Vidalytics
There’s plenty to like about Vidalytics if you’re its intended audience. As marketers, we found a bunch of stuff that we think can make our work better.
- Vidalytics is all about conversion. Sure, you’re given a vast amount of customization options to tinker with, but the ultimate goal is to convert—and this software can help you with that.
- Speaking of customization options, the control options available to you are robust. If you want to have every part of your video doing something, you get to do that with this tool.
- We dig the customization tools, but what we think justifies a paid subscription is the analytics. Vidalytics’ analytics capabilities let you see which section of your content gets ignored and gets sales, allowing you to course-correct with hard data, not guesswork.
Cons/Drawbacks of Vidalytics
While Vidalytics seems poised to shake up the video marketing segment with its features, it does have some chinks that you may want to be aware of.
- Its flagship features such as the interactive Smart Vid videos and analytics are paid, so the free account is lacking if you’re into customization.
- Due to the extensive customization options available, overwhelm can be an issue. It may take some time before you can get used to Vidalytics, so if you’re looking for a much simpler tool, this may not be it.
- As of this writing, Vidalytics’ integrations are quite limited. That could change soon, but as of now, if you’re not using any of the tools listed below, go with something else:
- ActiveCampaign
- CF Pro Tools
- Google Analytics
- Google Tag Manager
- HeySummit
- High Level
- HubSpot
- Keap
- Make (formerly Integromat)
- PlusThis
- Salesmsg
- Zapier
Vidalytics Pricing
Just like other video marketing SaaS, Vidalytics offers a free version that gives you 50 GB of bandwidth, free hosting of three videos, and access to some features, including video customization, autoplay, custom CTA, resume play, and more.
A free account, however, will only give you a branded player and zero analytics, so if you want personalization and insights, you need to consider going Pro ($79/month)—which gives you 200 GB of data, analytics, and 20 hosted videos—or Premium ($149/month) if you want multiple users, interactive smart vids, and more storage.
For enterprise users who need hundreds of videos created monthly, custom plans can be put together by contacting the Vidalytics team.

Final Verdict
If you want the best results, even with the extra effort of setting everything up, Vidalytics is the clear choice over any other video player.
In fact, even if you don’t use all of the features in Vidalytics, it is still a better value than tools like Wistia or Vimeo, especially with their case studies of consistently increasing conversions.
Additionally, some of their most powerful features, like Resume Play, Play Gates, Rapid Engage Bar, Countdown Timers, Smart Autoplay, Exit Thumbnails – are all quite simple to set up with a few clicks for the most tech challenged among us.
Features like Tags and Interactive Smart Vids are the ones that require more advanced set up.
Either way, the choice we made at AmpiFire was easy. Vidalytics is the way to go.
