Setting Up Google Workspace for Sending Emails via SMTP

Creating an App Password for SMTP

For security reasons, Google recommends using an App Password for SMTP authentication. Here’s how to set it up:

1. Enable 2-Step Verification
   
   • If you haven’t already, enable 2-Step Verification for your Google account.
     
   • Visit this link to get started: Enable 2-Step Verification
     
   • You may need to sign in to your account to proceed.
     
2. Generate App Password
   
   • Go to the App Passwords page.
     
   • In the “Select app” dropdown, choose “Other (Custom name)”.
     
   • In the “App name” field, type “OnGage-App-Pass” (or any name you prefer).
     
   • Click the “Create” button.
     
3. Save Your App Password
   
   • Google will generate a 16-character password.
     
   • Copy this password immediately – you won’t be able to see it again.
     
4. Use the App Password
   
   • In your email client or application, paste this password into the “SMTP password” field.
     
   • Some applications might simply label this as “Password”.

Important Notes

• The App Password  provides access to your account for the specific application you created it for.
• If you need to revoke access, you can delete the App Password from your Google Account settings at any time.
• Remember to use your full email address (e.g., [email protected]) as the username for SMTP authentication.
